COURSE DESCRIPTION
As a requirement for graduation, Healthy Living and Personal Fitness Education will provide students with the information, opportunities and experiences needed to make healthy lifestyle choices throughout their lifetime. The outcome for each student is to establish a behavioral pattern of lifelong participation in physical activities, and make sound, informed choices concerning all aspects of health. Using these skills students hopefully will take an active role in protecting, maintaining and improving their overall physical, mental-emotional and social health.
The following units and topics will be discussed:
1. The Health-Related Fitness Components
2. Goal Setting for Teens
3. Principles of Training
4. Guidelines for Exercise
5. Flexibility
6. Cardiovascular Fitness
7. Muscle Fitness
8. Evaluating Activities and Fitness Levels
9. Designing Your Own Program
