COURSE DESCRIPTION
Building upon the information taught in Personal Fitness and Healthy Living, Fitness for Life will provide students with the information, opportunities and experiences needed to make healthy lifestyle choices throughout their lifetime. The outcome for each student is to establish a behavioral pattern of lifelong participation in physical activities, make sound nutritional choices, and take an active role in protecting, maintaining and improving their overall physical, emotional and social health. Each student will develop their own “Personal Fitness Plans”, and actively follow that plan for the trimester.
The following units and topics will be discussed:
1. Personal Fitness Plans
Self-Assessments, Writing Personal Goals, Selecting Activities, Weekly Fitness Plans, Assessment and Evaluation
2. Yoga
“Mindful Monday” and “Warrior Wednesday” will be the regular schedule throughout the trimester.
3. Fitness Activities (activities will vary from trimester to trimester)

- Strength Training (workouts will include: weight room, heavy ropes, medicine ball, core work, plyo boxes)
- Cardiovascular Training (workouts will include: treadmills, ellipticals, jump rope, fitness walking)
- Flexibility (Dynamic and static stretching)
- Fitness Circuits
- Racquet Sports (Badminton, Pickleball, Tennis)
- Lifetime Sports (Bocce Ball, Bag Toss, Frisbee)
- Some Team Sports
